| Some of the items planted for the 2003 season are: Greens (Collards, Mustard, Turnip, Kale, Poke Salad, Cabbage), Tomatoes, Sweet Potatoes Corn, Onions, Watermelons, Asst. Squash, Peppers, Peas and Beans |
The vegetables were planted and cared for by the Gang. This is an urban effort to maintain a CSA farm ( Community Supported Agriculture). Planting Dreams Worms and Fish is the agricultural arm of God's Gang. God's Gang has been working to address the problems of inner city life for over 20 years. Formerly located in CHA's Robert Taylor Homes, the organization began serving Greater Grand Boulevard Community Residents with Mother's Cupboard Food Pantry, through the performance of gospel dances and tutoring through the Green Cheeks Library. God's Gang has worked to promote self-esteem for youth through programs that offer growth and opportunity. The youth that have been involved in God's Gang have learned to interact with children from different backgrounds and act as an alternative to negative influences in the community. God's Gang has developed and managed community gardening ventures, vermiculture and aquacultural farms, a children's historical library, and a food security program that includes a food pantry |
